Spotting the Problems and Creating Solutions

I have read Michael's book, and as an early 30-something living in NYC, I have found that there are many factors that pose threats against my success and my financial stability. Before I read the book I was laid off by a major publishing corporation that was outsourced to another company overseas. While at that corporation my status went from full-Time salaried employee to part-time salaried employee. My income was cut, my benefits little to nothing. Instead of seeing these things as failures on my own part, I tried to see them as positives. This was a prime opportunity for me to start consulting on my own and get experience in becoming a part-time freelancer. It also gave me an opportunity to help others execute their own creative ideas in start-ups and small businesses. I quickly found out that these small businesses gave me more room to execute my ideas and more resources. There was no bureaucratic red tape or politics that unfortunately, I had experienced at a corporation.
As I consulted part-time for many non-profits and small businesses, it became difficult to navigate these waters because of "funding" issues, or "grant" issues. I witnessed big corporations and investors pulling out at the last minute because of bigger problems and bigger sums of money being offered elsewhere. I thought this was a reflection of my work, the people I chose to work with, and the start-ups or companies I decided to help. Nothing could be further from the truth.
As I read Michael's book I began to realize that there were some huge built-in factors stacked up against me. The start-ups I worked for, as well as the small businesses in the summer of 2010 up to 2012 could barely keep their heads above water. I got a real basic understanding of what I was contending with down from historical points all the way up to 2013 from reading Michael's book.
None of these work, life situations or disappointments had anything to do with my ability as a hard-worker or my burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit. But it had everything to do with a lack of focus on helping and awakening the entrepreneurial spirit in this country. We are on a long and hard road to recovery but Michael's book gave me hope, resources, and lots of advice on how to navigate my future. This book answers questions, tackles the hard topics, and is a manifesto for all young Entrepreneurs who seek to help, invest, and stimulate our country's future, as well as our own destinies.

Completely unexpected

I bought the book based on a recommendation by one of the members in my book club but I had no idea it would be so relevant to my life and what is happening in our economy. I used to own a business until two years ago. My husband and I were in business for 29 years until the economy turned and suddenly our revenues dropped by 55 percent. We tried applying for loans so that we could restructure and expand our services but banks weren't lending, so our option was to close shop or continue sinking. No help came from anywhere. The SBA, well they're a different story, they provided NO HELP whatsoever!!
Anyway, this book was an easy and insightful read, with solutions that really would make a difference. Anyone who is interested in restoring the American Dream should read this book. Highly recommended!
