Powerful, graphic

This book really needs to come with a warning label. Its graphic descriptions of everyday animal cruelty literally made me physically ill. This book is not for the faint of heart. But, the author's purpose is clear--she asks "can you know what is happening every day to the animals we use for our own purposes and NOT change?" The cover is actually misleading--this is not a book about man's best friend. It is a no holds barred description of animal cruelty. I would challenge people to read this book without discarding it when the going gets tough. As the title says, it presents a radical new way of regarding animals, and is an essential read if you are to be properly informed about how we unwittingly contribute to the suffering of animals..

Fantastic Open your Heart Book for All Animals!

BEG hit the nail on the head! Wish I had known this information years ago...I, sadly, was one of those people who had so much stress going on, that I surrendered our dog 30 years ago!!! Wish I could have been aware of the humane thing to do! Even though this book reminds me that I made some huge mistake in the past, I now try to live my life to help all animals and I know that Rory does that and is doing that with this perspective. I hope her book will stop others from doing what I did. Even if you do not understand the entire, empathetic connection we have to all animals, this book just may get you there. I love Rory for her truth, for her honesty, for her kindness and compassion! Rory is one of the most influential authors of our time. She is changing people all over the world to think about how we need to be inclusive with all beings, not just human beings. All beings want protection from harm and need love just like all of us! Thank you Rory for another way to educate and touch hearts! This is a must read for all humans!

Beg: A Radical New Way of Regarding Animals

In this book, Rory Freedman gives us a very real and comprehensive education on the exploitation of animals by humans. But she's not just a Debbie Downer. She lays out specific actions we can all take that are very practical, and will make a huge difference. I found this book to be very inspiring, motivating, and encouraging. Rory also provides lots of great information on taking care of our own companion animals (even for us experienced dog mom's!). Rory really covers everything in this book. I would highly recommend it to those new to helping animals, and also to us more seasoned animal activists as well.
