About the Author
Cora Harrison published twenty-six children's books before turning to adult novels with the ‘Mara’ series of Celtic historical mysteries set in 16th century Ireland. Cora lives on a farm near the Burren in the west of Ireland.

Chain of Evidence

I thoroughly enjoyed this story about the lives of those living in the Burren of Ireland. When the elderly heir apparent to the chieftain died, the brother of the current chieftain arrives back in the area. A cousin with a pushy wife and a handsome son set their sights on becoming the heir apparent, add in a conniving man sent by Cardinal Wolsey from the English Court of Henry the 8th, an illegitimate son and his mother looking to better themselves - all added to the mix. A story every bit as entralling as the others in the series.

You have to love this stuff

Yes, it gets a little formulaic after a while. But if you have an interest in history and the law and are of Irish heritage, then these books are a delightful treat. Sort of a medieval Maeve Binchy, with the focus on what is really a very interesting body of law.

Cora Harrison's Chain of Evidence is an excellent entry in the Brehon series. A strong female lead, an adept plot, and an exciting climax ensure five stars.
